Billie Holiday - Love For Sale

"Love for Sale" è un brano di Cole Porter, dal musical "The New Yorkers" che andò in scena per la prima volta a Broadway l'8 dicembre del 1930 e vi rimase fino al maggio del 1931, dopo 168 rappresentazioni.
La canzone è scritta dal punto di vista di una prostituta che pubblicizza vari tipi di "amori in vendita": "Old love, new love, every love but true love".



Considerata all'inizio di cattivo gusto, persino scandalosa e bandita dalle radio, divenne ben presto un grande successo e venne negli anni interpretata da artisti come Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennet e Miles Davis.
